Pansy Patch History

A Brief History

In 1911, Hayter and Kate Reed began the construction of Pansy Patch, whose design had been completed by the renowned architect Charles Saxe, RCA.  In 1912, they moved in and made it their summer home.  The home was fashioned after that of Jacques Cartier, located in St. Malo, France.  The beams in the living room were purchased in a shipyard in Montreal and shipped here to become an important part in the structure of Pansy Patch.
